Digital Udaan’ is the new digital literacy initiative started by Reliance Jio and social media platform Facebook in 200 different locations across 13 states to teach how to use the internet for first time users, Livemint reports.

Facebook developed the modules to ensure Digital Udaan is relevant for people for practical usage. Jio has over 300 million users, with most of them are using the internet for the first time. The program has audio-visual training in 10 regional languages.

Director at Reliance Jio, Akash Ambani, said: “It is a programme for inclusive information, education and entertainment, where no Indian will be left out of this digital drive. Jio envisions to take this to every town and village of India, achieving 100 per cent digital literacy in the country.”

Digital Udaan initiative will engage with its users every Saturday to help them learn about JioPhone features, using various apps and internet safety, along with the use of Facebook.

VP and MD Facebook India, Ajit Mohan, said: “Facebook is an ally in this mission, and we are delighted to partner with Jio in attracting new Internet users and creating mechanisms for them to unleash the power of that access.”
