11/1/2021 10:54:05 AMVisitors: 719

Is WhatsApp down for you? If it is, then this may well be the reason. After months of uncertainty, D-day has finally rolled around and starting today, millions of WhatsApp users are expected to lose support. In effect, their WhatsApp will stop working on their phones. The WhatsApp block is expected to be implemented against all those people with old operating software that the messenger app no longer wants to provide support to simply because they demand and use up too much of its resources, they are not safe anymore and they cannot make use of the numerous new features that WhatsApp has rolled out for users.

In effect, if your phone does not meet the requirements of WhatsApp, you are toast. The problem is not with the phones, they my be working perfectly all right, the problem is with the dated software. Having said that, users can try and update their phones. What WhatsApp requires, it has revealed in a statement. It said, "We provide support for and recommend using the following devices: Android running OS 4.1 and newer. iPhone running iOS 10 and newer KaiOS 2.5.0 and newer, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2." All those phones that are not on these or higher software versions will not get WhatsApp support.

So, the first thing that users with old phones should do is check the list provided below and see if the name of their phone is mentioned. If yes, then they will need to take action themselves to get back their WhatsApp account. Of course, they could also migrate to rival messenger apps like Telegram and Signal. However, that may not be easy or feasible simply because most users' friends, family and colleagues are on WhatsApp - the world's largest messenger app with over 2 billion downloads.

The deadline that WhatsApp has provide mentions the date as November 1, 2021 and that is today. So quickly check here the list of phones that will lose WhatsApp support today.
