From multi-platform backup to joinable calls, WhatsApp has introduced several new features for its app that you should try out.

WhatsApp has introduced several new features recently. WhatsApp has released a slew of new features and updates to its Android and iOS smartphone apps. They include joinable calls, View Once, multi-device support and much more, which will ensure your WhatsApp chats get even more enthralling. Here are the top five new features that you should be using right now on WhatsApp.

1. View Once

First introduced by Snapchat, social media platforms have followed to introduce a feature that allows the receiver to view photos and videos only once before they disappear. WhatsApp is the latest application to adopt this View Once feature. If you send a photo or video, they will be deleted straight after being opened and viewed. WhatsApp says that this feature is useful for sending temporary information, like passwords. However, there is a catch as nothing stops the viewer from taking a screenshot of the message and saving it on the device for future viewing.

2. Android to iOS and vice versa

Several users want to switch platforms - from Android to iOS or vice versa but aren’t able to do so because of the fear of losing all of their WhatsApp data. However, things are changing now. Previously, there was no way to move your chat history from one system to another. Now, you can use the Smart Switch feature to backup your chat history and files and transfer them to any new phone.

3. Joinable calls

This new WhatsApp feature allows users to jump into a voice or video call after the calls have begun. Just like other services like Google Meet and Zoom, people who miss the start of a group video conversation can join at any time during the call. Up until the release of this feature, you had to hang up and restart a call if you wanted to let a new person in.

4. Multi-Device Support

WhatsApp recently introduced support for multiple devices on the web. You can use the service on multiple PC and laptop computers without having to mirror from your smartphone. You can now use the WhatsApp Web without your phone being connected to the internet.

Have you tried any of these features yet? All of these are now available on the WhatsApp app on both Android and iOS. However, the last one is still in beta.
