In a bid to step up its fight against coronavirus pandemic, government of India has launched a new platform encouraging citizens to do their part. Organisations and citizens can now volunteer in their capacity by donating essentials, creating awareness among other things. According to a tweet by Abhishek Singh, CEO, MyGov, the platform is for citizens and organisations that want to volunteer in fight against COVID-19. This is in partnership with The website highlights mainly four areas of contributions where citizens and organisations can do their bit. These four areas are: health, communication, entrepreneurial, and essential services. Those interested in volunteering under health can donate medical equipments, help in infection prevention and control as well as assist primary healthcare workers. What citizens can also do, as per the website is help elderly and those in need, dead body management and assist in transportation of patients.The government wants citizens and organisations to create public awareness on hygiene practices, promote social distancing measures and manning helplines that have been created to address the coronavirus pandemic. Those who are entrepreneurs can help in logistics, providing IT-based solutions and more importantly assist in production of PPE, masks, sanitisers.
