Introducing it on stage, <strong>Apple </strong>Chief Executive Officer <strong>Tim Cook</strong> called it the number 1 watch in the world.&nbsp;</div> <div> <div></div> <div>The device brings a design overhaul to the Apple Watch as the iPhone-maker is now using a new <strong>dual-core 64-bit S4 processor</strong>, custom designed to boost performance. The manufacturer claims that performance will be two times better than previous models, and other hardware improvements include an updated <strong>accelerometer </strong>and <strong>gyroscope</strong>.&nbsp;</div> <div></div> <div>The new hardware equips the <strong>Apple Watch Series 4</strong> to detect falls. Armed with a chip sensor, it can automatically trigger a call to emergency services if the user remains immobile for a minute after the fall. Continuing its focus on fitness, the revamped Watch will also screen heart rhythm for irregularities and will be able to capture an electrocardiogram (<strong>ECG</strong>).&nbsp;</div> <div></div> <div>Apple has received clearance from the<strong> Food and Drug Administration</strong> (<strong>FDA</strong>) in the US to allow its Watch to be used as a medical device. In fact, this will be the first <strong>ECG </strong>product offered over-the-counter directly to consumers.&nbsp;</div> <div></div> <div>The digital crown has been overhauled so it now includes haptic feedback, and the <strong>LTE </strong>red dot indicator is now a ring. <strong>Apple </strong>has also improved the speaker on the <strong>Apple Watch Series 4</strong> so it&rsquo;s now louder thanks to a redesign. The rear of the watch is now black ceramic with sapphire crystal.&nbsp;</div> <div></div> <div>The <strong>Apple Watch Series 4</strong> will have 30 per cent larger screens. The Series 4 <strong>GPS </strong>will be available in 26 markets at launch, while the cellular version will be ready in 16 markets with 34 carriers.&nbsp;</div> <div></div> <div>The <strong>WatchOS </strong>5 will be available September 17 onwards.&nbsp;</div> </div>
